Did you know that Japan is in 3rd place as the country with the highest life expectancy. Based on Worldometer data, both men and women in Japan have a life expectancy of up to 84.95 years. One of the factors for this high number is their diet which is known to be healthy.

Actually, what is the Japanese diet like?

In short, the Japanese diet typically consists of fresh, low-processed foods, consisting of a variety of meals and several small portions at a time.

But, what does low-processed food mean?

So, low-processed food is the opposite of junk food which is usually made from various ultra-processed foods such as sausages, burger patties, corned beef, and other packaged foods that are high in salt and sugar contents.

Japanese people are known to like to eat fresh food, such as sashimi. But of course, they have strict food products quality control so that the people there remain healthy.

Some of the food ingredients that are most often found on the traditional Japanese menu are rice, handmade noodles, fish, tofu, seaweed, eggs, and also fresh or pickled vegetables.

But it is common for them to eat other proteins such as chicken and beef on the menu they eat. However, usually these two ingredients are only a small part of the menu served.

Traditional Japanese food is very different from modern food and street food that we can easily find in many places. Street food and modern Japanese food are influenced by Western and Chinese food.

This traditional Japanese diet is also similar to the "longevity diet" from Okinawa, but contains more rice and fish. The Okinawan longevity diet is known for their healthy food that consists of many vegetables and fruits.

There are several things you can do to better implement the Japanese people diet:
